20th April 2012.
Today is his birth day.
The day I finally finished modeling the dragon from our project - The Dragon and His Princess.
This is the smiley cunning dragon.
11 490 over 10 000 polycount... I underestimated this lil' fella... (I'll be slaughtered alive soonest)
Anyway, this will be send to lecturers for critic.
And next it'll be send to Zbrush for skin detail sculpting.
This is the earliest story version of "The Dragon and His Princess".
Thus its storyline is kinda same. A very straight forward kind of story telling.
Drew this during once sembreak too.
Unlike "Swings", this story is originally created by myself.
*NOTE: Reads from Right to Left. (Click on one picture and view next pic just by pressing the -> button)
Finally we had our presentation today, which marked the last day of this semester too.
We are very satisfied with the Artbook. (It's a shame can't show it here)
After weeks of hard work, I'm glad that our work is appreciated & complimented by the evaluators.
Other than character designs, I also drew the storyboard.
Starting from the journey of drawing the Story Sketch -> Storyboard -> Storyboard Refinement
(Which includes multiple times of amendments throughout the process)
Well, frankly speaking, I enjoyed every single thing that I've contributed to this project as it has given me the golden opportunity to create & DRAW.
Hereby Firefly productions presents you the Story Sketch.
2nd Revision has a slightly different storyline, changed after some critics from lecturer.
(The limitation of duration is actually 2 minutes, but in this stage, time is omitted.)
1st version
2nd revision
Next is the Storyboard.
I'll just show some raw artworks.
These are the deleted scenes due to time limitation for the final animatics.
And finally the refined Storyboard Animatics.
All videos are beautifully edited by Fredlina. ^_^
Ended?
Nope, this is just the starting of the next stage! Spoiler: The dragon will be born soonest
Stay tuned folks for more works from Firefly Productions in the next semester! ^_^
I'm responsible to design the cover of our artbook too.
So after one day of backache working on Adobe lllustrator & Photoshop
These are the outcomes~
Front cover
Back cover
(which usually sadly is empty & er... unnoticeable) <--Oi!
The idea of the front page is a Chinese paper cut craft to strengthen the Chinese feel.
And it is designed to be like a Chinese scroll, hence the patterns & horizontal alignment.
I researched about paper cuts and came out with my own design.
Started with an idea sketch
Its shape is meant to be a yin & yang symbol. (Though is not clearly designed if only you really really squint your eyes to observe the flow)
The dragon and his princess are intimate friends, and yin & yang symbolizes harmony. (Other reason says that the dragon is male and the princess is female <-- true fact)
And a random fact about clouds symbolize spirituality.
I choose Kai font for the title because this font is widely used during the Tang dynasty.
I'm looking forward to see the completion of our group's artbook too!
Thanks for viewing! ^_^
