My last minute practice before my interview tomorrow.
I realized my skills kinda rusted after almost 4 months of not using Maya.

No ears yet up to this stage... OTL

Palace Pagoda 2

Pagoda with Bump and Specular map.
Compare the difference with previous post.
View fullsize to see details.

Some closeups.
(There's actually a dragon picture on the round floor.)

Pardon the unfixed roof.
It's 3.32am now.
Let me R.I.P before working back on the Princess Bedroom next.

Palace Bridge

Today I've done bump and specular maps for the palace bridge.
The difference is huge Before and After.

Only diffuse.
(Looking dull and flat.)

After adding Bump & Specular.
(What sorcery is this?)

Do full view to see the details.

I've actually beveled 3 times. But sadly, some texture still runs at some edges.
So this is just Soften Edge instead of pressing 3.
I just hope it can be solved.

Palace Pagodas

Here's the sneak peek of both palace pagodas.
One near one obviously VERY far. (That concludes the texture details)
Trying out again with lighting for fun.
No bump & spec maps added yet.
I used Physical Sun & Sky and one area light for this.
(I know the BG is distracting... orz)

*If  you have hawk eyes, there're some seam lines and some spoilt UV.
Don't worry, that will be fixed soonest.*
Or maybe I shouldn't say it out loud here... orz

Wells anyway, as commented from friends and lecturer.
Roof also need to be fixed. Needa model the roof tiles.
Will be doing the Bridge's texture too next!

Do I sound like a texture addict?
Nah, I just enjoy doing it.

Dragon Final Render

Tadaa~
This is the final result.
Used SSS shader with both Area and Spotlight.
Next will be doing turntable for Colour, Wireframe & Occlusion pass.

Later I multiplied the Normal Map to kick out the details on the head part.
And the body scales too.

Hope it looks cute to you.
Even abit.

Again as I gonna repeat this in every progress,
Thanks to all who guided me to here.
Appreciate a lot!

Gothic Building WIP

Doing this while I need some breakdown or rest from doing my final project.
(when I got fed up of facing the dragon whole day & playing Tetris |D)
I've chosen this design from my friend's concept art.

This is my latest progress.
Changed some of the designs.
Instead of dining tables, I choose to place a grand piano there.
Yes, in the middle of nowhere. Don't ask why. |D

I will "grow" grass and place some stones on the ground later.
I have the overall completed image and feel hovering in my mind.
Just that I hope I can execute it well enough.

Dragon Sculpting

Finally have reached the sculpting stage.
Here is the current outcome...

I tried to make the scales subtle because I think that baby's skin should be mile.
Textures on nails, horns & spikes will be added on Normal Map later.
Hope it does looks cute to you.

Changed the mouth to default pose (so is not smiling cunningly anymore lol)

I like how this lil dragon "grows" throughout the Work-In-Progresses.
Especially when I look back at the 1st progress now...
It really gave me a shock. *cold laughs*

Great thanks to all the lecturers who guided me up till today!
Your words are my "generator set".
Really. If that make sense to you.

Dragon Modeling: Part 2

Continuation of my modeling progress for the dragon.
This is the 2nd stage. (idk?)
Many parts have been improvised.
Though is still not cute enough...Some squarish parts need to be fixed.

Glad to receive some positive feedbacks too from the lec and my group mates.
I will work more on it & improvise more to Cute-tify it MORE! (I know there's no such word.)

Your words motivated me.
I appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Lil' Dragon's Birthday

20th April 2012.
Today is his birth day.
The day I finally finished modeling the dragon from our project - The Dragon and His Princess.

This is the smiley cunning dragon.

11 490 over 10 000 polycount... I underestimated this lil' fella... (I'll be slaughtered alive soonest)
Anyway, this will be send to lecturers for critic.
And next it'll be send to Zbrush for skin detail sculpting.

I deserve a lil' break, do I?  *puppy eyes*

Compositing Final Project: Part 1

For my Advanced Studio 1 compositing lesson,
I've learnt to use Combustion 2008 and I'm obliged to do a video with that program for my Final Project.
I've choosen a Japanese DS game, Solatorobo: The Red Hunter as my main theme.
The reason I choose this idea is because of its cute and interesting concept art.
I choose Airedale out of some other countries in the game.

The game's environments are modeled based on the references below.
*All designs are the property of Namco Bandai Games inc.

From the very start of this project (before the lesson has started),
I planned to devide this few scenes into Day, Dawn & Night.
From the process of planning, modeling, texturing, animating and compositing.
After weeks of blood & sweat, these are the outcomes.

I'm quite satisfied with the results.
The mini plane (my mom name it Goldfish-plane) which acts as the "main character" is animated in each scene.
As well as other elements such as clouds, stars, fog etc.

As an add-on, whoever is interested in knowing the game better, feel free to watch its trailer below.

Currently, I'm working on compilation, editing and breakdown.
One more week to work on this before presentation day.
Stay tuned for the complete video folks!

Interior Modeling

Assigned to model a set modeling based on a reference.

I choose this reference mainly because I'm a gothic victorian sucker.
Edgar Allan Poe is a famous Gothic poet indeed.
Everything in this scene is based on one of his well-known poem, The Raven.
And most importantly, THE PIANO!!!
Oh yeah. I just love piano so much.
